The character of Armenians

on

In this article I’ve tried to present some of the character traits of Armenians, which can help a tourist when arriving in Armenia. In fact, the task was different, I had to compare the character traits of Armenians, of another nation, but I do not think it is possible to compare Armenians with anyone. If an Armenian knows that we are trying to compare Armenians with another nation, then the end will not be good 😂. No matter how much I complain about the stereotypes and general character of Armenians, I am proud that I am Armenian … It is better to speak less and start presenting the material.

By the way, in my blog you can find interesting materials about Armenia: photos, Armenian music, historical reviews, the history of Armenian costumes, the history of cities, etc. Now I promise we can start.

People always refer to Armenians as hospitable, energetic and friendly. Is it just characteristics of the peoples in the region? Well, it was formed as a result of the prominent history of development.

From their old predecessors, Armenians acquired diligent work and craftsmanship. In this way, Armenians have for some time been well known for being astounding specialists, planners, ranchers, diamond setters. Additionally, it is very intriguing to find out about brilliant emotionality of Armenians, through which they express both happiness and joy, outrage and shock.

In any case, these outstanding unmistakable highlights, which can be found in their country, when looked with visiting Armenians, there are others that you can see just by visiting this country.

1. The habit of drinking coffee

Drinking coffee is not just a habit to get refreshed in Armenia. It is like a daily routine to drink it as they wake up. And the morning coffee is responsible for the mood of the entire day.

However, for Armenians, coffee is more than the usual means of waking up. It is a great occasion to talk and discuss many matters with family or neighbors and friends.

2. Saying thanks

It is very common to hear please say thank you. You may even have a microshock in light of the fact that you barely expected to hear “Merci” in Armenia. Furthermore, not once, not twice, and not by any means multiple times, yet all over!

The truth of the matter is that in Armenia rather than the thank-you word “shnorakalutyun” they frequently state straightforward and short “merci”. In this way, on the off chance that you abruptly visit Armenia, you may not feel the distinction!

3. Pay for a friend on a bus

If in Armenia there are acquaintances in a bus or a minibus, then the one who comes out earlier pays for the acquaintance.

4. Respect towards the elderly and female in a bus

Besides, it is a polite manner for Armenians to give their place on a bus or a minibus to elderly or female, or people with children.

5. Hospitality

During your trip in Armenia you may meet and get acquainted with the locals, who after talking to you and being sure of your personality, will offer to visit their house, where you will be treated with a variety of the most delicious local cuisine. And coffee for sure! This is where you will understand why Armenia is considered to be one of the most hospitable countries in the world!

6. “Jan’’

As we have already mentioned, the first word that will seem familiar to you is the word “merci”. However, there is a reverse situation – when you speak English, but a word that you don’t know speaks through. This word is “Jan”! “Jan” is a way to address someone in a soft and loving form, which means a positive disposition towards a person. “Jan” is one of the most often used words in the sense of “dear”, “cute”. So, if you are approached by “brother Jan, Ann Jan, John Jan”, then you should know – they treat you with warmth and respect!

7. Respect towards women

An Armenian woman in an Armenian family – whether mother, wife, sister or daughter – is a man’s honour. Women are treated with special respect here, so they will give you a place in the bus, take you home, help you carry heavy packages, pay for you in a restaurant, bus, taxi, even if they are not coming with you.

8. Hi brother!

Arriving in Armenia, it may seem to you that you have found a countless number of your lost brothers. And it is not an Indian soap opera. After all, here every second man will call you brother, even if you are not familiar yet. Armenians are friendly people, although if it comes to anger, they are unable to slow down. However, here they prefer to resolve all issues peacefully (Armenian Velvet Revolution is the greatest proof for it), therefore, turning to unfamiliar men as brothers, they minimize the occurrence of conflict situations.

Arriving in Armenia, you will definitely meet all these features and fall in love with Armenia and Armenians precisely because of these small differences.
